About the Council PTA

Our Mission

We stand for all children. PTA is part of the fabric of the United States’ public-education system and a trusted partner to millions of parents, families, educators and community members, as it advocates for education, welfare, health and safety of all children.

History

PTA is the oldest and largest child advocacy association in America. PTA is invested in the whole child and advocates on their behalf. Established in 1911, South Pasadena Council PTA is a collaborative community organization representing our 5 South Pasadena distinguished schools. Together we serve to ensure the needs of students and their families.

Present

South Pasadena Council PTA works with the First District PTA of California which serves over 280 schools. We are volunteers. We strive to keep our community informed about important school issues and highly encourage parents to get involved through PTA. We bring together all 5 schools to collaborate and communicate to the benefit of the entire community. We meet with each of the 5 school PTA presidents, members of our executive board, representatives from community organizations, school board members, and the school superintendent. Together we can and do make a difference in the lives of our children.

Unit PTAs

South Pasadena Council PTA provides leadership training and Guidance for Unit PTA officers and offers programs of interest to the entire community such as school board candidate forums. Our Special Needs Committee hosts during the school year: monthly support group meetings, biannual parent education nights and informative biennial Special Needs Conferences. Our 3 elementary schools come together annually with the All City Track Meet and all 5 of our schools participate in the PTA Reflections program highlighting visual and performing arts annually.
